1982 was the transition year from bronze to copper plated zinc. As a result, some 1982 dated cents are bronze and some are zinc. Your coin is a normal 1982 bronze variety.
Not just a 1982 copper/bronze… it is a small date, weight is 3.11 grams which is normal, from Philadelphia. Not scarce but infrequently found and getting harder to find every year. The really valuable cent from ‘82 is the copper small date from Denver. Only 2 have been found and confirmed then subsequently publicized. This one looks to be AU58RB. A good, solid find. I’ve found 6 or 7 of these since Oct. 27, 2017 when I joined Coin Talk and learned a passle of important lessons.
There is no such thing as clad cents. There were 7 business strike varieties of Cents minted in 1982. You have one of 20 Billion that were minted that year.. It's common Copper weighs 3.11 grams Copper plated zinc weighs 2.5 grams @larryb1918 Please let us know if you learned something new with our responses.
Cents have never been clad of any type at any time. Yours is a 1982, a transition year for copper cents and zinc cents. Yours is normal and it’s copper.
Believe what your eyes are seeing. The problem is with your knowledge about what you are seeing. Only the 1982-D small date bronze is valuable. The other 7 are too common to have any real value. The devil is in the details. No one is ever going to find another 1982-D small date bronze.
