Help needed. $100 1864 Confederate Paper Money

I'm not really a paper money guy so I need some help.

1. Is it genuine?
2. What grade do you think it is?
3. Does the signature add or detract from the value?
4. What do you think is a good price for it?

I really like confederate money however for every real one there are about 100 fakes, from the pics this one looks good to me.

 

Looks good to me but the condition is really bad. Not sure who William Copeland is. His signature may add some value but with the condition of the note it won’t be much. The note is also stained and the edges of the note have been cut into the guidelines. Any value will be low.

 

I got this through Google. William Copeland was a Norwegian-American brewer. He was the founder of one of Japan's first beer breweries, Spring Valley Brewery in Yamate, Yokohama, in 1869. The brewery was the precursor to Kirin Brewery Company, one of Japan's largest domestic beer producers.

 

The year would be about right but he needs to be tied to the note in question. Here is one of mine with a signature that was traced. Signed by William Hoge. He delivered bricks to Andersonville Prison for the south. Even managed to get a copy of the receipt he was issued.

 

It's a start anyways.

 

The one the OP posted would be a low cost start for a low end note. Mine has the traceable signature with a rich history, interest paid stamps and a few other things. The guideline is missing on the top right but it’s worth over a thousand.
