My luck is with the quarter machine at the local self-serve carwash. But not for pre-65' quarters, as I've not got a 64' or older quarter from it as of yet. I have gotten proofs, W mints and once a two headed "magician's" quarter out of it though.

When I got the two headed quarter, for the next 24 hours it was like winning the lottery jackpot, as in planning on how I was going to deal with the proceeds or monetary value, much like winnings from a lottery jackpot. Starting at the time I got it from the machine, like a lottery ticket, until the time I found out that it was an altered "magicians" coin/the lottery results/loser ticket. Same same.

I can only say that finding that in a laundromat means someone was desperate for a quarter to do their laundry. Glad you came along at the right time and found it.

I still have not found a single W quarter.

A "privy mark". Privy Marks on Coins

Hmmm ok then, I did not know anything about these privy marks until now.
I wonder how they determine what the privy mark will be each time, maybe it's a random draw or mix of letters and numbers?o_O and that is me completely guessing how the mint comes up with the mark...

It is just a little bit of corrosion on the field. A little post mint damage.
I check all my coins for errors and varieties. It is rare that I find something neat.

Here's a screenshot I took after googling it. This explains exactly what, why and when/where regarding the privy (V75) mark:

    V75.JPG

Also note that (I don't believe that) all W minted quarters have this privy mark on them. Not by error but by intentional design. I found about a dozen or so of these in my change over the past several years, which I've saved them all. It seems (from memory) not all of my W mint quarters have this privy mark on them. Maybe someone can verify this. I tried to google it but so far have not been able to find confirmation of this.
