Watch out for these 1922 Peace Dollar counterfeits.

    I've seen a handful of counterfeits on ebay recently with a "chip" above "PEACE" on the reverse. I almost got burned on one.

    The texture seems off on these, especially on the rim.

    It's wild that they are counterfeiting the most common date! A lesson for any collector to always check every coin!

    When you zoom in, it seems that the entire surface of the coin has an odd "texture".

    Wonder what the weight and dimensions would turn out to be? I've gotten fakes of common silver that were underweight, and others that were of accurate weight but about 10% thicker than expected - those were silver-plated copper, thicker to make up for copper's lower density.

    Yes, the surfaces have spongy look, and the details are fuzzy. It’s like a “circulated, Mint State coin.
