I watch a lot of Youtube videos. One of my favorite channels is Jason from Mount Baker Mining and Metals. He owns a gold mine on the west coast, and has filmed the entire process of restoring and re-opening this gold mine. The first season was cool from a history perspective, but the recently concluded second season was fascinating - he showed the drilling, blasting, recovering, and smelting process. Then he took his bounty to someone who turned the raw gold into gold tokens. Never have I ever seen such a complete and thorough view of the entire process from rock to coin. If you are interested, I highly recommend you check him out. The video linked below is the culmination of taking the gold to a coiner, but you can look at his past videos to see the whole process:
I wasn't sure if this would capture my attention, but it turned out to be exceptionally cool! About 90 minutes into the 2 hr 30 min full recap video and thoroughly enjoying it.
His tour of Baltimore Knife and Sword Co made me want to watch some Forged In Fire; that show's awesome.
