One of my recent pickups, and an oddity that it's actually graded. I tend to buy raw Morgans because I'm just going to cut it out from the slab to put into my album, but this one is graded and in ok condition so I picked it up!

Anyways, I tried to put up pictures that would be good enough for guessing the grade but it's not often I am taking pictures through slabs, so hopefully they're good enough for the purpose of this post.

    I'll show the grade in a couple of days. Good luck! 20250425_150257.jpg 20250425_150319.jpg 20250425_150139.jpg 20250425_150144.jpg 20250425_150406.jpg 20250425_125536.jpg

Bonus points if you can guess the VAM, but that's going to be rather difficult without me posting lots of extreme close-up pictures!

Possibly VAM-19. There's only one condition - I absolutely suck at attributing VAMs.

I bet Weird Al could make an entire song about how bad my VAM skills are. It'd go something like:
You just bought a cracky Morgan, said "Tag, you're it"
But in 1/10 your VAM skills just got split
It's like a faux doubled date is the only thing
You see on the coin that makes a single bell ring

My VAM skills will stay that way for quite a while, probably.

    I don’t do VAM’s but it is the 1878, 7 over 8 tail feathers. MS-63

I don't think I see any wear but there are plenty of contact marks....it could have squeezed out a 62 but I was more conservative and went MS 61

at a glance I'm thinking it one of the "scribbles" VAMs but I haven't done any specific checking tonight. I do however for this reason give it a 63 as I think a fair number of marks are "mint made" combination of polish lines and die imperfections :D and yes it is a very nice strong 7/8 tail-feather (mine is a weak 7/8)

Nice 7/8 TF STRONG reverse. That one jumps out at you. As for grading, I don't know. MS61, just a guess. Almost looks like someone tried to clean the reverse.

I've got to find myself a neat (relatively cheap) little lamp that I can use for coin pictures. The difference in color (from the Kelvin temperature of the lighting) between our preference here at home (3000K) vs the last picture in the coin shop (5000K) is crazy.

I use two of these: https://www.amazon.com/enclize-Rech...efix=enclize+book+light,tools,172&sr=1-1&th=1

    They work well for me.

I'm a bit late on the reveal, but here it is. I think he brought it down to $200 for me. Nothing absolutely stellar, but it's something to fill another hole!
