I have this Full Ladder Up number serial , 12345789 ... as you can see it's full ladder up without a repeating number, but it skips the number 6 in sequence which makes it very interesting to make a ladder that begins from 1-9 . My question is due to its unique nature of 1-9 ( skipping one number , otherwise this was not possible as there are only 8 number in serial ) , is this considered a Full ladder serial ?? And if so I know ladder serials are very demanded and price begins 1K up , is this more valuable , less or about the same ? Thanks
Its value depends on how you market it on eBay. For instance, if you add the numbers before the missing 6, you get 15. If you add the next two numbers after the missing 6, you also get 15. If you subtract 15 from 15, you get 0, which is the only other number missing in the serial number besides the missing 6. If you then go flip the last number upside-down, the 9, you get the missing 6. That's very cool, because the same is true, whether you add the missing 0 to the missing 6, or subtract the missing 0 from the missing 6, you still get the missing 6, which, coincidently, drumroll, just so happens to be the missing number in the ladder to start with! Let us know how much it sells for, will you?
Sure , will probably not going to sell it right away , but in a month or two , will definitely let you know ... thanks for all the analogy, it was very interesting what you said , should I be looking for $500 or less ? Since all true ladder notes are 1K up
If it means anything to you, I never found anything near that close. If it were a $100 note, I'd sure enough spend it. For a buck, I'm keeping it.
Plain and simple.. No I want to share this webpage with you http://coolserialnumbers.com/FancySerialNumbers.aspx I want to share this image with you from the website
Honestly I think this is as rare as Full ladder as there is no repeating number an perfectly going up from 1 all the way to 9 . Never seen anything like this going from 1-9 ofcourse one number should have been skipped somewhere. It's very interesting to me regardless of value
I found this in a strap from a bank today and it reminded me of this thread. I only noticed the serial because the stamp caused me to take a closer look at the note than I otherwise would have.
Since there is so much difference of opinion here, it is logical to assume ebay bidders would also have difference of opinion , which might mean high bidding.
The difference of opinion can be summed up like this: Experienced collectors: not a ladder, minimal value. Others: missing rung ladder, ebay premium. The problem with these almost notes is when the eBay buyer goes to sell their collection to a dealer or an auction house or some other traditional venue they will be disappointed to learn that they have been holding notes with minimal value and no place to sell them except on ebay and similar sites where the fees will likely result in a loss even from face value. Now, having said that, I am not trying to be critical of someone who wants to collect these items. They just have to be realistic. I have a significant collection of German notgeld that is never going to appreciate in value much and I know when I sell it I will probably take a loss. I do understand collecting for the joy of collecting. But, what I frequently shake my head at isthe puffery that goes on on these discussion boards when almost radars and rungless ladders and mixed quad pairs get multiple posts praising what great finds they are while substantive posts with truly scarce notes and significant historical or other information are met with crickets.
I appreciate the honesty. Made tons of "mistakes" already in my very short time of coin collecting. On CoinTalk I have learned a lot hopefully preventing future mistakes, or errors on my part.
