Should this thread be created to capture finds from change and leave CRH threads separate?

Yes I do, but not as much to find in that regard (plus usually don't have the cashflow to buy as much). Did find a really nice series 1977 $5 I got from there once, as well as quite a few $2 bills. Star notes I don't bother with unless they're in near mint condition. Will sometimes save older bills (pre-1990's) if I find them but it's not very common.

To date only found silver once in the register at this job; a silver war nickel I mentioned earlier (1944-P). When I worked for Sam's Club found a lot of silver dimes for some reason (wish I saved them, but sold them a while ago long before I was collecting Roosevelt dimes. Still have the Mercury I kept though, in good enough condition that it's sitting in my 7070 type set).

    Two comments:

Perhaps keep the link to Starnote Lookup on your phone. Better condition notes are fine to collect but it’s more about size and type of replacement lot.

At the start, funds for me were tight as well so collecting came down to to what I received in my paper route proceeds and later from counting the till at my afternoon job. Coin collecting in the purest sense. And to be honest, bringing me the most satisfaction. Even CRH events. While perhaps less pure, finds are finds. Of course finding an S VDB isn’t going to happen that way, but my most satisfying aspects of my collection are the raw finds.

This 2009-D nickel was snatched from a Mississippi casino ticket change machine. IMG_3263.jpeg

I’ve been making change on the West Coast…lots of D mint specimens but nothing from 2009. It’s been a while, and the last find from that year was a dime.

Cash register find today (well, technically yesterday):

Been a while since I found a star note, so thought it was worth keeping. Slightly circulated. And hey, starts with a 0; that's something I guess!

Also forgot to post it but got a 1948-S wheat cent a few days ago.

    And also this:

I think a note with 3 leading 0's would be a cool find, even if it wasn't a star note! I had to give up my "pocket piece" (2023-D JFK half dollar) to buy it but I think it was worth it.

I agree. The low number would garner some additional interest. It’s part of a large run, so not a rare one (I.e., common star note).

It's the lowest serial number I've ever found in the wild, star note or otherwise, so definitely worth saving just for that reason.

    Cash register finds today:
    two bicentennial quarters
    1955-D wheat cent
1984 Lincoln cent someone stamped "GIGI' on for some reason
    2009 "Formative Years" Lincoln cent
2024-D Pauli Murray quarter (not that big a deal, but I saved one of every other 2024 quarter in addition to what's in my AWQ album, so... felt incomplete not to save one of these too lol)

[IMG]What the reason or significance of this is, I have no clue. But thought it was interesting enough to be worth saving.

Funny…a couple weeks ago ago I was on the left coast stating that I hadn’t seen 2009 coin in a long while. Well…
