I was on the US mint website over the past couple of days and noticed that the 2015 Uncirculated, Clad Proof, and Silver Proof sets are no available for sale. If they have finally discontinued sales of them, each set would be the lowest mintage in quite some time. Does anyone know if sales have been officially discontinued?
how many did they sell? how many did they make? Did they sell all that they made or did you say they simple stopped selling them?
Set/Sales 2015 Clad 662,934 2015 Silver 387,460 2015 Mint 314,060 These were the reported sales on the 1 January 2017 report. Although they may return on the website, the 2015 sets haven't been there for a few days.
Sales ended on 12/31/16. 2015 silver proof set mintage is lower than 2012, and there was also no Limited Editon Silver Proof Set in 2015. This makes this 2015 set poised to appreciate in value. My opinion is that I am tired of chasing lowest mintage items. I am also running out of space in my SDB for all these Mint issues. TC
The mint has put so many coin sets out there that I fear that the hobby is moving toward a death spiral similar to stamps, beanie babies, and sports cards. Having said that, the low mintage of all three sets may bode well for their value in the future. As I have all three, I can only hope.
I don't know about stamps, but cards are still alive. It's just that only the classic cards and a few rookie cards of guys who went on to be Hall of Famers are worth anything anymore after.
The trick would be to sell them when they get hot and reach their highs and just wait a little bit and get it later cheaper when it's cooled off again or there is a new lowest mintage
Since there was no Limited Edition Silver Proof Set in 2015 and the Silver Quarters Set was also a low mintage, the 2015 silver proofs may just retain the lowest mintage into the future.
I'm sure within the next few years we'll have another new lowest mintage set as it's like musical chairs with these lately. Although if the mint switches to the .999 fine silver that they are now authorized for the 2015 may end up being the true last lowest mintage .900 fine silver coins.
For proof set and uncirculated set. They are not the lowest. Earlier years during 1940's and 1950's are the lowest. Only the silver proof set, silver quarter proof set, clad quarter proof set, limited silver proof set, and presidential proof set that you can have the lowest mintage. Cause they just made it recent years.
Thanks for the tip, everyone -- I'm willing to speculate at this stage, and had some eBay bucks burning a hole in my e-pocket. Now I just need to decide whether the chance of this moving like the 2012 set is enough to justify getting a few more...
Like others have said, I too stopped chasing the lowest, yet for 2015, no Limited Edition Set is a big deal. So, I "chased" this one and put a few away. I'm betting it stays the lowest for a long time, unless the mint stops making Limited Edition Sets. By lowest, I mean lowest total regular silver proofs from all options.
So, they're taking them now? They stopped me and I complained to them that their policy stated one did not earn them on bullion only and one could still spend them on any coins, bullion too. Edit: eBay just called and said they fixed the problem.

Hi, I'm new to the forum but not to collecting. I picked up a few 90% 2015 Kennedys @PCGS PR70, they don't seem to be moving much in price so I may pick up a few more. Thanks for posting so much info.
I hate the new web site.......does anyone know how to get into 'products no longer available'? The old website had this option to choose, but I can't find it anywhere on the new site.
