From a bulk bin of Mercury dimes, I found this today. May have been worth all the searching... Am I seeing a D (on this AG-3 ish specimen) or just imagining one?
LOL. I was thinking more like Pareidolia at work here or wishful thinking? Hey, a guy can dream, right?
It doesn’t look like a D to me. It looks like a hit occurred in that area and it’s now worn down and one’s imagination sees a D v by e cause of the date.
Pareidolia - the tendency of the human brain to create imaginary patterns out of random data. or worse, Financial Pareidolia - the tendency of the human brain to create imaginary patterns out of random data when there is a large financial incentive.
Technical Analysis When you Squint with one eye and close the other all while keep looking through the bin.
Even an AG-3 trends over $800. If you have any more this far gone, I'm happy to buy them all off you for $2.40 apiece.
Ya know I bought a complete blue Whitman album about 5 years ago for $60. Complete as in every hole was filled, I pulled all the dimes and put them in a plastic container. I probably should go back and take a look and see if there happen to be a 1916-D in the 1916-D hole when I removed all the dimes. Don't get me wrong, the book was in such terrible shape and the dimes not much better...I took a quick look but it didn't look Obvious so in the bin it went. Maybe if I Squint with one eye and close the other it was really worn, what are the chances that someone would put a non 1916-D in the book never happens right
Some people don't mind collecting culls. I'd do a good bit of squinting and digging for a chance of a 1916-D cull. Or even a 21, 21-D, or 42/41.
