Peace my friends! Although our interests are thousands of years distant, we are all brothers and sisters in our passion for coin collecting. We can all learn from one another.

Not a sermon, just a thought

A very generous offer, 9ball, and I would put my name on the list if I didn't already have the catalog. I am trying to obtain a catalog from each auction in which one or more of the coins in my collection appeared. I own lot 2009 from that auction:

For me they are Ancient and World coins. US coins way too expensive for what I might want.

Lol, I'm at heart a dog person. But have smojo 1st cat. There's a few that roam my front & back yards I'd love to find a home. Unfortunately it seems Noone wants them. They're great cats, have no mice or squirrel problems.

You can see the double strike in the second coin you posted. The cross is not symmetrical because part of the line was from a previous strike (I think).
Double strikes come in many forms.
They can be a coin struck on a different issuing authorities coin like this -
AE Sextans Mercury overstrike obv.jpg AE Sextans Mercury overstrike rev.jpg
A Roman Republican sextans over a manheaded bull (not Roman)

or one can strike on an older coin
    Quadrans over Uncia tintinna e51L1008 12.19.15 obv.jpg Quadrans over Uncia tintinna e51L1008 12.19.15 rev.jpg
RR quadrans over uncia (a 3 dot over a 1 dot coin)

@dougsmit had an excellent post on the subject. He shows some coins similar to yours.

Steve, please don't take me seriously on this:). I meant it humorously about ships+parties. My engineers' mind did not see the obvious synergy between the two. I really hope I get invited to a party on a boat sometime!
