Anyone ever do anything with these folks? They had a four day auction of quite a few coins. I went through and bid on quote a few. Just went and looked and it appears I was successful on eight coins..... I cannot find any link to pay the bill or anything that even resembled an opportunity to pay for what I won. I can't even find a "contact us" sort of link.... Just wondering if anyone has ever bought from them in the past.
This company? https://www.bidgoldstandard.com/about.htm There is a phone number and email. Their auctions appear to go thru HiBid so I'm not sure where you're looking. Google shows them located in the Dallas area. Reviews are mixed - seem to sell some basement slabbers and a few counterfeits in there too. I have no experience with them.
Twenty Cent pieces are awesome. I only have the one that I got in change back in the 50's. I have passed it on to my youngest son.
The only thing I can tell you about this is that the photos are very overexposed and slightly out of focus which can hide many problems. When it comes to Internet bidding, I stick with the dealers I know. I don't get caught up with outfits about whom I know nothing. I have bought a few items for under $100 from foreign dealers via MA Shops, but that has been about it. Here is a "white" 1875-S Twenty Cent piece. This one is graded MS-63. It's in an old PCGS holder.
You probably bid on a platform like High bid, or Live Auctioneers. Check where you were bidding. They use basement ABC TPG's, but compare the item to PCGS prices If only you asked first...https://www.bbb.org/us/tx/dallas/pr...ld-standard-auctions-0875-91131566/complaints May I ask did you a max proxy bid? Was your highest bid the wining bid? Was this true about all your wins?
As a matter of fact. Yes, each coin I won at my max bid. Now that you pointed that out, I am feeling that I have been played here. Seven coins. Each at my max. That’s a bit too coincidental ain’t it?
Hi Harley. Start a thread and post a photo. You probably won’t get any replies in this thread….. But it is easy to start a thread and just as easy to attach a photo. If this digitally challenged old man can do it, anyone can.
Randy, be very cautious going forward with this transaction. I read a lot of the BBB complaints and one stands out as being a potential problem for you. The consumer in question said they won, I believe it was 27 or 28 coins. He received about 6 of them and the other 22 weren't included in the shipment. Since he had the tracking #, and he signed for the package, GSA claimed then NEVER ship partial shipments. His credit card company wouldn't process the chargeback because he signed for the shipment and couldn't prove the missing coins weren't in the box. How do you prove a negative? The guy mentioned he was out about $2,200, with no recourse. Caveat emptor
Wow, if true not even ebay is that sleazy. But I don't know how it works on HiBid - are you able to see the bidding history? A shill bidder who knows what your max was set at is a new one for me.
