I'm new to collecting Clipped Planchets, to be honest they didn't really interest me at first but a poster peaked my curiosity and I've decided to gather a small assortment: Sorry for the small photo, this one is currently on the way to it's new owner Last but not least, and Yes, I changed my Avatar to this piece temporarily:
Those are very nice. Thanks for sharing. FYI they are called Clipped Planchets but at no time are they ever actually clipped to begin with. They are actually Incomplete Planchets. That occurs when the coin stock sheet does not move forward properly for whatever reason so when the blank planchets are being stamped from the sheet it cuts to close to the previous blank. So that's why they are incomplete, missing a piece. Here are some of my favorite from my collection..
Those are some really nice incomplete planchets! Here is an ungraded one of mine. Edge of sheet punch.
Thanks Paddyman98 and Thank you for that information, it was very helpful! You have some nice pieces!
That is a great start to an incomplete planchet collection! Now you need to get some doubles and triples. Besides the straight edge that Jersey shows, you can also find a ragged edge.
Thanks physics! The New York one that I posted is a Double but I def will look into acquiring a nice large Triple Clipped piece!
Yours is a large date but mine has no date. If you notice the rims you’ll see is a capped die as well as an incomplete planchet error.
Collecting Nut, that Kennedy Triple Clip is Nutz, really nice piece! The Capped Die Lincoln is nice too, I like that the Mint Mark Just made it lol! And those Cent dates...
