Saw this Probus with the Mars advancing with branch, shield and spear on the Rx and pulled the trigger Looks better in hand. Axial lighting for the pics seamed to work best. I may use some verdicare to get some more of the dirt stains off but maybe not? A distilled water soak got to its present condition. Feel free to share your Probus(s) Probus, AE antoninianus, AD 276-282, Rome. PROBVS PF AVG, radiate, cuirassed bust right MARTI PACIF, Mars walking left, holding branch, spear and shield. Mintmark RQΓ. RIC V-2 Rome 177.
Very nice. My favorite Probus has it all: a radiate crown, a helmet, a cuirass, a shield, a left-facing bust, a scepter, a snake ...
Thanks Maridvnvm I appreciate the info Is there an reference for the "coded series"? I feel like I should be aware of this series but am ignorant of what it is.
I'm not Martin but I do have this site bookmarked which answers your question (and any other Probus question) http://probvs.net/probvs/e-equiti.html
