It does look higher than the 19. This should be reported to ebay. The seller has way too many coin for sale & has sold enough to know there's the probability that its's a fake of some kind. Bought at an Estate Auction? I doubt it.
Yeah, they have been selling coins for quite some time and use the ignorance excuse. I'm working on getting this one pulled.
IMO this is just bull when someone has the excuse of I am not familiar enough and I have not had enough experience with this date to tell if it is real. All scamers use that and oh! We purchased this coin from an antique dealer. She stated she purchased the coin at an estate auction. how many time thats been used. this guy sells coins on e-bay he knows it is fake but he is using the old CYA trick. The pic is just small enough to not let you see if VDB has been tooled off
Makes no difference he states quite clearly he/she is not saying it is real and it might be a fake. Ebay will not pull it just because you say what he allready says You might not like this but that is the truth of the matter, there is no attempt to defraud once he puts in that little disclaimer. As for the guy's numismatical knowladge we do not know him personaly so can not give a honest assesment of it, we might well harbour doubts about the validity of his statements but can you prove he is lying? I know I cant What counts is what you can prove & not what you think.
The auction has been pulled. They will pull an auction like this, even with a disclaimer, because the disclaimer is not in the title.
Sorry! They did not pull it. The seller pulled it. If eBay had pulled it, you would get an invalid auction message and not be able to see anything.
i agree - at the very least put a question mark in the title. it's such a sad world.. 'let's be a little honest in tiny print in the ad about how we dont know anything about the coin' but not honest enough to use the 80 character space to list the header as 'possible forged 1914D '
