Hope the surgery and recovery goes well!

Not coins, really, but hopefully some interesting viewing and reading for you...

Ok. It won't take a Rocket Scientist to figure out these aren't photos of Coins. But, as others have said, maybe you will enjoy something different.
I can't say I "collect" Oil Lamps, unless having 3 of them counts as a "collection"?

This first one is a little older than above certificate indicates. It's called a "Pinched Oil Lamp". It was flattened out, then "pinched" at the top to hold in shape.

This one is my next oldest one. From around 100 B.C. to 100 A.D. Ike dollar for size. It's not totally cleaned out, but I decided to leave it that way (for now, at least).

This is my "newest" one, and it's in the best condition, I guess? I'm not sure it was ever used. I'm told they find a lot of them that way? This has a dollar bill for size comparison.

Hope you enjoy. Praying for your wife and family. Kenneth

Yeah, those are cool, aren't they? I think it was our pal @ZoidMeister who turned me on to those and I had to go find some.

Thank you. I really enjoy having them. I meant to include a photo of a modern made one in use and forgot to. So, here it is.

@Randy Abercrombie Please do post an update when able and convenient.

Meanwhile... asking the Great Physician to bless her. Speaking of... here's one of my top faves in my collection:

@kountryken Thanks for sharing your oil lamps! Love 'em! I have several... but not enough ;-)

Two "FYI" tidbits in case you don't already know...
...The 1st one you posted ("pinched bowl" type) is freqently referred to as a Maccabean Lamp and/or Hasmonean Lamp. A few call it a "cocked hat" type.
...The 2nd one you posted (with Ike) is commonly called "Herodian Type". A key characteristic of the type is the wick hole (nozzle): (a) Nozzle has a larger hole for the wick than most lamps of that place and time; (b) Nozzle is somewhat triangular in shape and flattened on top.

Below I'm holding an example of each type (purposely using my display case as a background):

Just saw this @Randy Abercrombie and said a prayer for you both. If you want a coin photo just look up the one I sent you that I can’t post here. Praying all will work out well.

That's an understatement, lol! Thank you so much for the info, and, no, I didn't know that. I could spend hours at your display case, not that will happen, of course, but you get the idea, lol. Thank you so much. Don't know if you have one, but I found this interesting at my LCS (well it's 60 miles away). The price wasn't "interesting"!

Well thanks everyone. Was scheduled to be a five hour surgery and she was out in under four. Everything went better than planned… She had a huge hernia. Looked like she swallowed a grapefruit or something. They had to go in and sew her abdominal muscles back together which is what made it a pretty invasive procedure. I just tucked her in the bed and am awaiting her script of pain pills… I know what’s coming when the good stuff wears off!

So good to hear that she’s doing well and that it took less time than planned. Shame it was such an invasive surgery but she’ll be much better when she recovers. Keep her pain pills close as she’ll need them. Now all you have to do is cook dinner. :)

AND of course . . . also buy her a "get well" coin! ;-)

    JK!

Seriously: Very thankful to hear that update.

I almost lost my bride a while back. This site gave me something to do other than worry. She is now back to normal telling me what to do.:D
