Hey all! It's "Talking Token Tuesday!". Say that 10x fast!! LOL. Anyways , please post your tokens also... Here are some of mine. the "Annual fair token" is interesting. I found it metal detecting in an old baseball field that use to be used to hold an annual church fair from the late -early 1900's from what I gather. The front is neat with the old plow and the other side is the "Lords Prayer" in the tiniest lettering. Take care this wonderful Tuesday!
Not sure if this qualifies, but I recently acquired it, mainly because I love the historic homes in and around Natchez, MS (and it was cheap). Sorry for the photos. I was in a hurry and haven't retaken them.
I don't have any true tokens except leftover Chuck E. Cheese. I do have this one, which seems like a weird hybrid to me. It's legal tender, but you were supposed to donate it to a charity. So it seems like a "token good for $1 donation" but I'm probably just making stuff up.
I was happy to upgrade one of my scarcer strawberry tokens recently. Here's the original one: All of Ed Fuhr's tokens were in a fire at some point, and thus, many of them are cleaned, often harshly like the one above. Kind of a funny story of where my upgrade came from. A relative of mine in a distant state went to a coin shop in their area to see if they happened to have any picker tokens (for me of course ). The owner(s) didn't have any and didn't even know what my relation was talking about. Fast forward a few months, a collection of picker tokens (with a few scarcer pieces) came up for auction. And that is where I got my upgrade. A very nice original piece with sharper borders. When it arrived a few days later, it came with a business card of the coin shop that sold it. And that coin shop... was the very same that my relative visited a few months earlier!
