You got a nice coin there. I'm still kinda pissed off PCGS didnt give my 1897P MS 65PL a MSDMPL designation. With 10 plus inches of reflective imagry, I feel cheated.

I was flippig thru my photos today looking for the one that matched yours. This one was put in a paper locker for it's Vam. This one came from an ole' Bank roll of 88's.

A lot of people would say "that's how it goes", but I say that those graders are senile sometimes. If it has 10+ inches of reflectivity, than it's certainly better than many DMPLs out there.

I think you could get DMPL money for it, though. To the right buyer, that is. ;)

If you ever want to name that coin, I'd suggest Madame Rain-tone-bow. ;)

This one looks real to me; the method you mentioned is plausible for how the toning came to be.

It is time for a new photo, that one is a few years old.

Ok, I'm the "odd" one. I don't care for "toned" coins. That's just me, and my opinion doesn't count, I know because my wife said so, lol.
I much prefer yours, Dave. But, not offering to buy it, that's way out of my price range, lol. I know, it's not for sale, just saying.

Ken, you are not the odd one. I don't like the heavily toned coins either.
