Hello, long time lurker, first time poster. I roll hunt occasionally and came across a possible 1989 P DDR. Never really found much before so was hoping for opinions. I checked Wexlers and see similarities, doubling on the "of" and in "one" "cent" ... Much appreciated!
Welcome friend, what you have is machine doubling no value! Flat and shelf like. For now, on please send full pics of obverse and reverse.

Welcome to Coin Talk! I gave you your first “like” because you have to be brave to take the leap for your first post. I lurked and learned for 3 months before my first post, and I found the membership to be men and women of sterling character and extremely helpful. All of my posts aim to emulate the goals of the forum, which is to post accurate information and offer constructive guidance. I agree the coin has mechanical doubling. Wexler has some other pertinent articles to peruse, including worthless doubling and the minting process. Regarding this coin, you have to get a sense of the planchet being struck by the die and shifting or twisting slightly during the strike creating the result you see. With experience you will see a lot of MD but do a handstand when you find your first DDO/DDR. Good luck and keep on posting!
We all started out pretty much like you have. It takes time to become proficient. But glad you are taking a shot at variety hunting. For me it expanded the hunt and the interest. So, I hope you keep at it. Welcome to CT!
