Seated Half Grade?

    Bought this 1877s back in the late 1970s from one of the big dealers that advertised in most of the coin magazines. It was supposed to be an MS example, but the more I look at it (and kick myself for not sending it back) I'm thinking XF45 details (cleaning and/or polishing). I would be interested in your thoughts.

    I would actually say AU details cleaned. The cleaning was pretty harsh, but it would have been a low level AU coin--Like AU 50, were it not cleaned.

    I agree with AU details but XF wouldn't surprise me one bit

    Definitely AU but surfaces do not look market acceptable at all.
