Here is my latest English Civil War coin that arrived today. Charles I (1625-1649) 1/2 Crown 1644 Fine 12 NGC, Bristol mint, plumes/BR mm, KM214.20, S-3007. 13.71gm. Metal: Silver Diameter: 32.3mm Reverse translates as "Let God arise and His enemies be scattered". I've looked for a decent legible reverse for this coin for a while.
Picked up a couple new Canadian pieces this week: Canada 1935 1 Dollar Notes: purchased raw; has booming luster and minimal marking - camera picks up every little thing, but in hand it's very, very gemmy. This one is much nicer than the example already in my collection. Canada 1858 20 Cents (coinage alignment) Notes: purchased in ICCS MS62 flip, 5/5 Repunched Date variety was not attributed. Coin required conservation and the flip was damaged, so I "cracked" it out. Now the coin shows a lot more luster, and the goop from the PVC flip is gone, but with rim damage (near Canada and above right of the crown) and tiny marks I wonder if it would straight grade if submitted at NGC/PCGS. I think I did what was best for the coin by properly conserving it.
Interesting! The legend reads "IAC COOK...". IAC is the abbreviation for Jacob or Jack, but he was James. I wonder what was going on there.

This one finally arrived, but it had quite a journey. I bought it from a seller in France in mid-January. It took about 8 days to get to the U.S. and then it got weird. It cleared customs sometime in February. Tracking had it in Indianapolis in late February, and then on March 12 it was in Michigan. Then it just didn't move for three weeks and I was sure it was lost. Suddenly late last week I got an update that it was at the local distribution center, and two days later it arrived. I'm glad because when I thought it was lost I couldn't decide if I should open a case on eBay even though I know it's not the seller's fault or just accept the loss, which was not a trifling amount. That dilemma will not have to be faced. Anyway, the coin. 1849 3 baiocchi from the Republic of Rome, which was a revolutionary government formed in 1848 when much of Europe revolted. I love the eagle design with all the detail. It's also big for a bronze coin, just about crown size.
1788-C PCGS AU-58 1/6th Thaler added to my date and mint mark set for Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover.
I just got this little guy in! I'm considering putting together a 7 coin set of these from each of the Dutch Republic provinces.
I've been picking up siege money when I can find it at reasonable prices. This is the latest addition.
