They added 4 dollar coins, and the price went up by less than $4. By definition, that's a better deal than last year. Is it a GREAT deal? That's a different question. I think, like other Mint products, they could be cheaper still.

It isn't you, the mint overcharges.

It surprised me how low they were priced, I thought it would be closer to 40.00. I agree with KLJ it still could be cheaper.

Let's see face value of coins $6.91 cost to us $26.95, I think it is a scam, a ripoff, they're sticking it too us, there is no way that with production costs and face value that these sets should be over $15.00.

there is no such thing as expensive or cheap. the mint can put any price they want and still the collectors are hungry for it. but one sure thing is that few people buy it. it become rare. and the price take off. many people buy it. then it become abundance. and the price fell. example: 20th anniversary coin sets or the spouse gold coins. the mint charged so much. why many people bought it?.

because of mintage limitations, the proof sets have no such limitations

I am very happy with the price, my only gripe is that spots that quality control lets through.

i agree, i think the price the mint offers is very reasonable. but why compare the face value of a proof coin to its counterpart in circ? certainly, you wouldn't ever spend a proof coin...it's worth more than it's face value. when i compare the prices of mint proof sets to those offered by ebay sellers...now that's a rip off.
