I believe that the price will go down when more people receive their orders. I ordered at 01:17PM on that day. I ordered one of each. AA will ship on 9-4-2007 MW will ship on .... (still moving back one dayeach day)
I find it hard to believe that the big dealers didn't have all of their employees camped out in front of a computer at 12:00 noon with their personal credit cards, ready to order the maximum amount of each issue. We'll see what they do. We've already seen several sellers on eBay who were offering as many as 5 times the number of coins as the individual limit.
I finally received my AA after quite a wait, the MW came 7/3. My AA has a defect in the obverse a slight pinhole indentation on her forehead. I'm not sure if they will replace it or if its supposed to be there.
At the local coin show I go to almost every month I was asking dealers if they were going to order the First Spouse coins, only one dealer told me he was getting them. Most dealers seemed like they had no interest in them.
When the Jefferson & Dolly Madison First Spouse coins come out they will knock the others down. Dolly very popular American (from Philly) and the Jeff coin will be number 1 for a long time. IMO
first spouses first spouses now break $600.00. too many sellers. see price to drop even further to $500.00. sorry folks. p.s. so few people collect gold.
I have read it will be the end of august before the mint expects all the coins will be shipped out. That probably means it will be the end of September. I know I read to much but some think the reason the mint is slow in shipping these orders is because they are going through them very carefully to insure the household limit is adhered to. Really do not know that last part for a fact . I order one MW 6 hrs after they went on sale just for the pure devil of it. Kind of hope it gets that far and kind of hope it does not. As Doirs Day use to say "que sera..sera what ever will be will be, the furture is not ours to see so ..."
Anyone want to speculate on either the mintage breakdown of the Jefferson or the speculated values? The first two reached the $800 dollar range, do you think Jefferson will go higher. BTW, I ordered 2X both MW coins, and 1X the AA coins.
First Spouses The Total Mintage For First Spouse Will Be Around 2,000,000 Pc. Estimated Over 40 Spouse. Sooner Or Later All Spouses Will Be Traded Near Or At Bullion Value. Reason. Again, Too Few People Collect Gold As Compared To Silver.
That is assuming that they keep the mintage the same over the life of the program. I would think that it will fluctuate a bit making (IMO) the 40000 mintage of greater value. Here is why I say this; I am not a "full-time collector" I collect mostly ciculating coins, but "invest" in the comm. from time to time. What I usually do is but the Gold American Eagles. I see alot of people switching to the spouse program because it gives more variety, more possibility for a return on investment, and it has some significance. At least that is why I switched. I know that many of those poeple are not going to fir into the "two hour window" when they go on sale, but some, like me, will. We also see what popularity the quarter program has sustained over time. I know gold at $400+ is a smaller crowd, but I think those coins with the smaller mintages will continue to be of great value.
Yep, that's what some "silver folks" were saying when the 20th anniversary eagles came out ..I passed on the gold sets based on what I read in this forum..........and regret it dearly today
Little history again Dorothea Dandrige Payne or Dolley Payne, was born (May 20, 1768 – July 12, 1849) was the wife of President James Madison, who served from 1809 until 1817. She also occasionally acted as what is now described as First Lady of the United States during the administration of Thomas Jefferson, fulfilling the ceremonial functions more usually associated with the President's wife, since Jefferson was a widower.[1] Her name has been widely misspelled as "Dolly". She was born in N.C. is it ok to abbreviate that :goofer: but live many years in Philly PA. :goofer: I loved her Ice Cream the Co. is now Hostess and many other names I will be sitting bythe Phone and computer when they go on sale Rick
I know what you are saying, I love how that gold reverse proof looks and it shot outta my price range immediately
I Have a question concering the Little Debbie (Dolly) and the Jefferson substitue first spouse. Are these two coming out as a tag team or dynamic duo like the Abbigail and martha coin. When this coin or coins come out, the liberty will sell out as fast as the mint can take the orders. Dolly probably will not be to far behind. Dog eat dog you know, kind of like work. I will be surprised if the mint does not lower the household limit to slow the sell out down a bit.
everyone gives advice the point is who take it from some people keep bad mouthing gold without the knowledge. if you do your homework you wont regret it whether its gold silver or plat
