Hey everyone! I've had this diagram for a while and some say it's incorrect. I just want to know if this is true and if so, should I dispose of it?

At a quick glance, it looks OK, but I haven't compared it line by line. If you go to a site like Wikipedia, the articles for each type there should have all the data for you to cross-check. Or Numista, I guess.

Who said it was incorrect, and in relation to which data points?

Not sure exactly but it was here, or I think so anyways.
I thought they said the tolerances were off. I don't know. I don't weigh the coins anyways.

I do think I've seen that chart before, but I don't remember where. Somewhere on these forums, I guess, like you suggested.

Condor reply that it differs from Coin World.
Neither is 100% accurate. The U.S. Mint Archives and National Archives and Congressional Record are your friend.

Yes, yes, navigation is a PITA.

the coin sleuth can, with respect and humility and some sort of enticement (which may or may not work), ask RWB for help, if the Chart(s) bother your Level of OCD Tolerance.

Prove it. There have been instances of non-accuracy, although very minor overall.

Unless Jeff The Science Guy agrees something is 100% accurate, I call Baloney on 100%.

I think it’s fine. I also think the tolerance it shows is on newly minted coins. Some coins might be a little over or under but that’s normal in the minting process. The more wear a coin has the lower the weight of the coin will be due to circulation handling and that can’t be explained by any chart.

Look at the weights listed for 1892-1964 dimes. Why are they 1% higher than the 2.5g listed in the Red Book?

Look at the weights for Barber and Standing Liberty quarters. Why are they half a percent lower?

It makes me distrust the rest of the figures, even though they're probably mostly accurate.

If you still have doubt cross check it with others such as eBay and more. Yours looks good to me Sal, good luck.
