Hey. Nice Largie! I always wanted to find one Metal Detecting. No luck over the years. I wonder why? Low mintages?
The made for circulation Braded Hair half cents (1849 to 1857, excluding 1852) had low mintages, but they also did not circulate very well. It's hard to find one in less than EF by honest wear, not problems. I don't imagine that very people were carrying them around to lose them for you to find.
Then post a Morgan. You guys posted a Dollar, I posted a dollar....next person post a dollar if you'd like. I didn't mean to keep anyone from posting a Morgan
It don't work that way. You need follow the lead by the coin type or the date. Blame the guy that started the thread. He set the rules. This gets us back on track.
I’ve never heard of a half cent being dug. I mean, I’m sure it’s happened plenty of times- just not to any of the detectorists I know or have followed.
Since you are from the south, there probably were not that many half cents circulating there ever. I've seen some early half cents that must have been dug. There are probably some from the 1820s. After that, they are probably few and far between from the ground.
