Bucket List - Almost

    My most dreamed about bucket list coin. A Gobrecht dollar…. Probably will never own one. But this big ole’ honkin’ two ounce copy is still pretty easy to look at. Just picked her up.

    For me that would do nicely. Two ounces of silver with the famous design. That piece is definitely a win win. What other reproductions do they produce. Thanks for sharing

    Considering the chicanery we see on Ebay and Etsy these days.... Yeah probably so.

    Yes, that is pretty well done.

    According to one school of thought, the “C Gobrecht F.”below the base was made from a die which was cut in the 1850s. The majority opinion claims it was made in 1836 and not or barely used because Gobrecht’s name was too prominent. The “C. Gobrecht F.” on the base is far more common.

    I tried to write an article about the Gobrecht Dollars for “FUN Topics,” but got too bogged down with the conflicting theories. The ideal length for an article is 2,000 words with not sequels.
