I found the Coinstar mother lode!



65 nickels, $3.25, the oldest were 1954-D, 1957-D, 1958-D, and 1959-D

Today there was about $2.00 in mostly modern US change.
There was a British 5 new pence 2000, a Canada 25 cents 1974, and a prize coin, a US quarter 1964-D.

 

I walked into Fry's grocery store, made my purchase and there was a guy using the coin star machine.
He had a Blue 5 gallon water jug and an empty Small peanut butter jar.
As he was kicking out his receipt and getting ready to leave, I told him Don't Forget about the change in the Discard Tray...I had to point it out and he didn't know that they had one.
He did thank me twice, so I'm going to assume he needed the money more than I did
That's my good deed for today.
There was a couple hand fulls in the tray.

Then. I used a gallon of fuel swinging by the casino for football picks and was going to try and recoup some gas money, but all 4 of the machines were being used except for one and that lady was sitting next to her husband (again assuming) so I let her be and didn't ask her if she was going to play or move to the other side.
Can't help thinking about No Good Deed goes Unpunished, but it probably saved me some gambling money.

It is always cool finding items in the reject tray. But we must ask, why would all those perfect US coins be rejected? Most look in great condition to me.

 

Probably feeding the coins in too fast.

My Coin Star find yesterday.
One really weathered US Quarter and 4 Euros that just today I learned that different Countrys have there own Euros

I have a Essential tremor in my hands thats heredity from my Pops.
Plus i'm using a cheap flip phone by choice.

The clearer pics of the coins i'm using a cup maginifier with a flashight pointing at the side of it and resting the phone on the maginfier.

I must of tried 20 times to take a pic of the 4 coins together and the quarter and that was the best of them

The quarter is just like another members post of thinking his was a error coin with no clad.
How thick is the outside clad on a quarter?
I'm going to buff it or grind it to see if it shows again.

It always happens when a aquaintance first notices my hand tremor.
They SCREAM out "STOP SHAKING", like thats going to help. Or your drinking "TO MUCH COFFEE"

The tremor can come and go but mostly the tremors are on.

 

Try this... Put your camera on top of books, jar, can etc. Like this....

 

Thats a great idea.
Only thing is I need to setup the books so my flip phone camera lens is parallel with the coin.
When the phone is opened the lens part top is at a angle.

I have around 3 touch screen phones laying around. I never set them up with a carrier because again the tremor makes it hard to hit the proper part of the screen.

 

Most people actually use a mason jar not books. That's what I use and have no problems since my picture taking is done by pressing a button on the screen using a smart phone. No one use a flip phone anymore, do they?
I would just say to slow things down and take as many Pics as you need to get it just right.
Now go give it a try!

 

I use a LEGO brick board on LEGO stilts. I can add or remove bricks and boards to get the perfect distance and the sharpest image possible.

 

A good day at the Coinstar machine:


Two dimes, 1961-D and 1964-D, a 1943-S cent, a 1976-D cent.

Also a 1989 quarter with so many errors that I will be rich.
