Completed Julio-Claudian Half of Twelve Caesars Set

So recently I just bought this Alexandrian tetradrachm of Nero which I thought had a great portrait with an appropriately dour, angry expression (almost foreshadowing Caracalla) for someone who's often described as one of the worst emperors in Roman history.

    Nero.jpg

    Nero
    Bi Tetradrachm
    10.50 grams
    Alexandria mint
    Year 11 (64-65 AD)
    Obverse: Radiate bust, wearing aegis
Reverse: Diademed, veiled and draped bust of Hera Argeia
    Emmett 122
    VF, Toned.
Porous, as expected. A bit glossy.

With this purchase I basically completed the first half of the Twelve Caesars covering the Julio-Claudians. I just recently got a heavily worn Antioch bronze of Otho from a multiple coin lot so that's 7 down and 5 to go covering Galba, Vitellius and the Flavians. I don't have the budget to cover all the emperors in a single denomination like denarii or anything like that so it's a silver/base metal mix of both imperials/provincials (it's nice to have a variety of different types of coins in my collection anyway to cover the breadth of ancient currency) and for Julius Caesar I had to resort to a posthumous coin (half of one anyway) which at least had his portrait on it. I started putting this together last year and it's been very fun to assemble so far!

I was just drug over to the dark side late last year when a Vespasian was gifted to me by @lordmarcovan. It took me a few months to get my Caesars together and I had to settle on an elephant denarius for JC….. But I had so much fun putting mine together that it stays on my desk at work.

Thank you! I've tried getting the harder names out of the way first since I knew the Flavians should be a piece of cake. Those are some great coins!

I agree 100%! It doesn't mean anything except I agree (that's actually scary!). If I ever put one together, it will be a mixture of coin types. I appreciate all of the sets that others have assembled, love to see them, but I'm not interested in investing that much money into a set. So, if I do, it will be a "Bargain Bin" set, lol. I love it. Wish you success in completing it.

Here are the rest. I think it's fun to have a "mixed collection" of different metallic compositions and denominations.

Randy, you know me well enough, I think to know a couple of things about me.
    1. Regardless of what my wife says, I don't know everything!
    2. Regardless of what my wife says, I will ask...
    3. Regardless of what my wife says, I will listen...
(NOTE: If I want my wife to see this post, I'll show it to her).
So, I'm asking, because I want to learn, and I'm listening...
You used a word in your post that either I forgot what it means, or I never knew what it means, so, when you have time could you please explain it to me. You were referring to where you keep your 12 Caesars collection, and the last word escapes my memory banks, or overloaded them? That word is "work". What does this mean? I don't remember having an understanding as to what that is?
Ok, this is what you get after midnight, when I didn't get much sleep the night before because I'm still tearing out the new floor I just put in my utility room 3 or 4 months ago after my water heater leaked and ruined it! But, I should have hot water by noon tomorrow, uh, today! Hope this at least made you !
I love CT. Blessings to ALL Y'ALL!!!

Well, I don't know what happened, but there was a smiley face between you and !. So, it should have read, "hope this at least made you smile!".I guess it got wet from my leaking water heater and faded out?
