Hello everyone. Hoping all is well. This thread called "Simply Standing Liberty Sunday" was inspired by @alhenry92. Thanks! Please post your Standing Liberty coins. Not all have to be a Standing liberty Quarter though. Here are two of mine that I was able to dig up.....
I've told the story of how I got involved in collecting several times before. After serving 50 years as a pocket piece this is the coin that did it.
This is the most important coin in my collection. I spent my 13th Summer staying with my Oma. As I was leaving she pressed this coin in my hand. She said, "This is as old and worn as I am, think of me when you look at it." I took the phone call 3 days later when they called to say she had died. Enjoy ths Bliss Oma; you deserve it. James
The three types of Standing Liberty Quarters. Type I Type II The date was volnerable on these pieces and tended to wear off the coin. Sometimes it was not well struck at all. Type III The date recessed and more protected. The mint system also did a better job at striking these coins, with more "full heads," but the die was cast. The design was replaced after 1930. Here is a close-up of a "full head."
