The purpose of this post is to provide an anonymous poll to sample what collectors think of Carr's fantasy overstrikes. I ask that everyone refrain from revealing their answers or reasoning. I only want to know collector opinion/attitudes. I don't care to read 20 pages+ of cheerleading or bickering.

I think you need an option for no, but am looking to get one.

No, and I won't add one to my collection. I don't condemn him, I just don't own one, nor want one. I see his side, and support it. I would defend him in a court of law. I just don't do fantasy ownership outside of D&D, personally.

I don't own any overstrikes, but I do own a couple Carr medals, courtesy of a very generous secret santa. Also, being a Rhode Islander, I'm a fan of his work on my State's quarter. I think the fantasy overstrikes are cool, but I can't justify the high price tags when there are just so many other cool coins to buy. (sorry Dan, I'm still a fan though!)

physics-fan3.14 You got any more of them.... prooflikes?

Well, my position is no secret, haha.

I think you need to add another choice "No, and I never will."

That would be covered already by the "No", hence the second option of no but maybe in the future

I was about to buy a piece a few days ago. I had it in my cart and was ready to check out until I put in my zip code and saw $10 shipping... no thanks! Not on an item that weighs an ounce and under $50. Send it first class for $2.62.

I own one overstrike, mostly out of curiosity. Don't know if I'll buy another though I'm glad to own the one I have. For me, it's about prioritizing my limited pool of collecting dollars.

No, because crazy prices for fakes or whatever you want to market them as. Maybe someday when they get down to melt.

I'm mixed on owning one or not. All depends upon the price truthfully.
I love the Peace design, so that would be on my list. But I already own several higher grade Peace Dollars including 1921.
I'm not a Morgan person, at all, so off my list
The Oregon Trail gold, I have a Silver commem and adding the design in gold is a possibility though it's overstruck on a St Gaudens. I might just want the St Gaudens instead unless it was priced right for me. The Mint's already done this "type" of release with the gold mercury, SLQ and WLH.
The Capped Bust is another interesting over strike.

I find it interesting that he starts with an original coin, then either restamps with a new date or changes the design altogether.

I'm not a foreign or generic round person but his works are on my radar so maybe in the future. But weighing and overstrike vs an original is the complex part on my premium valuation of his work.

It's pretty awesome though that his designs have become actual US monetary coins.
