I don’t pay attention. And I don’t get out much. Is there anything coinage wise to get excited about next year?

There's been extensive discussion and planning for Semiquincentennial [yes, I know, even spell-check can't read that] coinage.

I was going to say something reassuring about government plans and the dependability thereof, but never mind.

I heard maybe no more Kennedy Half Dollars. Half Dollars may go the way of the State Quarters or some other theme. Who Knows?

You know the mint will be producing something that’s overpriced.

I don't order through the mint either, but they must have free shipping, no?

Regardless of what the Mint is planning, it will be underproduced, overpriced, designed by 6th graders, and on dealers shelves before anyone knows about it.

Unfortunately, that will probably be true. The mint charges way too much for the copper-nickel commemorative half dollars at over $50 each.

Saw some videos on youtube that maybe all the coinage was going to change. New half looked great. I don't know if it will be a one off for the year or the changes were going to be permanent. Either way it sounds like it'll be an exciting year for US coinage.

I think that free shipping will cost you $4.95.

Essentially penny and nickel are just getting the "1776-2026" date; but will be a special dime, 5 special quarters, will be doing something with the half dollar too. Maybe something with the dollars but haven't heard anything specific about those. So will be visible in actually circulating change, even if you don't want to buy anything straight from the Mint.

I imagine they'll cook up some kind of set, but since these designs are for that year replacing the regular coinage, even just the standard proof and uncirculated sets will have these.

JFK will get a break in 2026, but in 2027 half dollars will continue to have JFK on them, possibly a new portrait. (2027 to 2030 the reverses of half dollars will have some design emblematic of disabled sports).
Just as FDR and Washington will get a 1 year break in 2026 but will resume being on dimes and quarters in 2027. 2027 to 2030 quarters will have "youth sports" designs.

I don't think they're planning on doing anything special with Roosevelt dimes come 2027; likely will just revert to the standard design again.

I'll reserve judgment until they actually finalize designs on things but should be interesting at least.

I still save every bicentennial quarter I find. I'll save at least one coin per design of the 250th anniversary stuff.

Not particularly interested in the youth sports of 2027-2030 though. But if JFK is still on the half dollar, they will still be in my Kennedy half dollar collection. (I'll put the 2026 one in there too, because where else would I put it, even if it's not technically a Kennedy half dollar.)

Thankfully, it seems, I stopped adding to my modern coin collections in 2022. I tolerated the zillions of quarters up until then, but saw that it would never end and that it would spread to dollars, halfs, etc. I had to stop - the foundation of my house can support only so much weight.

It would be nice if the mint would issue some coins that "the average Joe" can afford. The mint did that in 1976, perhaps too much, because they didn't issue anything that was really special. This time, it could be in the opposite direction.

I do like the bicentennial designs but it seemed like they struggled to find anything particularly interesting to do with them. They did make uncirculated and proof versions of them in 40% silver but that's about it. The packaging was quite underwhelming tbh. Kind of hope they do something to get people interested this time around. And yeah, have something in a reasonable price range.
