This coin is a trifecta for me-- unlisted, hoard coin and a plate coin. Maximianus A.D. 299- 301 Ӕ follis 27mm 9.0g IMP C MAXIMIANVS P F AVG; laureate head right; slight drapery on left shoulder. GENIO POPVLI ROMANI; Genius standing left, modius on head, naked but for chlamys over left shoulder, right holding patera. In ex. S club RIC VI Trier --; BM Rauceby hoard # 843 The bust type for this coin is "slightly" unlisted for this series for slight drapery on the left shoulder; of course, that is probably of "slight" interest. This coin is also from the Rauceby Hoard, though this was the largest 4th century hoard ever found in Britain, with 3,099 coins. As most of the coins were returned to the finders, the market has been saturated with ex Rauceby coins. It is also a plate coin in "Recent Discoveries of Tetrarchic Hoards from Roman Britain and their Wider Context" British Museum Research Publication 236 as coin #843; though it is misdescribed as RIC VI Trier 96b; as no mention of the slight drapery is made. So it is still not listed correctly in any publication. I also happened to be looking for a nice example of the club mintmark for my collection of Maximianus coins referencing Hercules. https://constantinethegreatcoins.com/Hercules/
I always enjoy your posts so much because I always learn so much! And, I love to learn more about anything, but especially history! Thank you, and congratulations on your find.
