Please advise if anyone has seen where as the die polishing is over done to this extreme. The polishing issue is only on the obverse as shown. The reverse has no issues and is as shown in the picture. I found this coin as normal change at the grocery store.
I may be mistaken but through the glare in the photo I am not seeing any die polishing marks. This may have been a coin that got stuck in a clothes dryer for some time. It may also be from having been struck through a large amount of grease or other debris.
Thank you very much for the reply. My son sold it yesterday to a coin and collectibles store. He did very well if it was worth only 10 cents like I had thought as well.
Thank you very much for your input. My son already sold the dime for what I believe to be quite a bit of money. Thanks again.
Oh really? I don't believe you. Must be a coin dealer who only knows how to buy and sell coins..not all of them know about true errors and PMD
Take it and run. You got over on one. Hopefully it's a dealer who needs to learn a hard lesson, because if the buyer is a private party they're going to be pretty unhappy with you when they find what they bought is worthless.
Sitting with a coin dealer friend at a flea market, he paid some fairly big bucks to a customer for a peso coin and then realized (after the customer had gone) that he tracked across a line too fast and lost 200-300 dollars. There goes the profit!
