I just spotted a new offer in my eBay messages: $10 cap on FVF for up to 5 items. Must list by January 3. (Gee, guys, thanks for the advance notice -- the offer started on the 25th, the message is date-stamped midnight Jan 1, and I'm quite sure it didn't show up in my box until this morning, but at least I got it before it expired this time. Or so I thought.) So, I clicked on the Activate Offer button, and up popped a new page, rewarding me with this: Unfortunately, this promotional offer is by invitation only. Why, yes, yes it is -- that's why the fine print in the offer says "By invitation only and applies to <the very same eBay ID I'm logged in with>; do not forward." What's next? Have they hired Lucy Van Pelt to run their promotions?
Just did that. The rep said it's a known issue -- apparently all sellers who received this offer are having trouble activating it. He said they'd take care of it manually. Now all I have to do is sort out some high-value stuff to retrieve from the SDB, photograph, and list by TOMORROW NIGHT. Grr. Glad I'm not part of the eBay IT staff responsible for this...
They sent a message apologizing and saying if you activated and listed over 100 you will get the offer.
Same. Was excited because I routinely sell things that cost much more than $10 in FVF, but was unable to activate the promotion. Bummer.
They just sent an email: "Hi go_4_it, We apologize for the technical error that occurred when you attempted to RSVP for the $10 Final Value Fee Cap offer we sent you on January 1 (Ref. 103641). We're sorry for this inconvenience, and want to assure you that although you were unable to activate the offer, you will receive the final value fee cap outlined in this offer. For listings created after you attempted to activate the offer, and before the end of the promotion at midnight tonight PST, your final value fees will be capped at $10 for up to 5 items that sell for $100 or more. You will receive a credit for all qualifying final value fees on your next invoice. Again, we're sorry for this inconvenience, and thank you for selling on eBay! eBay Seller Team"
I don't have that excuse, but I ended up setting up a few "placeholder" auctions so I can edit them later if I get my act together to actually sell something. I was wishing I'd done that for a previous promotion; this time, I remembered.
They say they're resolved, in that I have both verbal assurance and email assurance that the $10 FVF cap will be applied to five eligible sales. We'll see -- assuming that (a) I get around to populating the three placeholder auctions I set up, and (b) I find buyers.
