    Hello everyone,

You'll need to forgive my ignorance, I recently had the opportunity to buy 40 Morgan dollars and 40 Peace dollars at, what I believe to be, a very reasonable price. I don't know much about Morgan and Peace dollars so my question is: If I were to decide to sell these coins where could I go to find out what would be a fair asking price? Thanks for your help. 20250309_134404.jpg

Depends on their individual condition. If you are just trying to flip them there is a gold and silver bullion subforum here. Those guys deal with that quite often and could help you.

You could scroll through the EBAY listings to get a sense of what each date/mint mark are trading at in a similar condition to your own. Grey sheets would be another.

My advice would be to make a list of coins. Note any mintmarks. Go to the site Numismedia.. Find out if any of your dates are rarer. Get some general information on grading and proceed from there. James

More than likely he acquired common dates and average condition (they do not look like culls), but yes, you nailed it. Also, every now and then lightning strikes and you can get a conditional rarity worth several times more than melt value.

NGC coin guide online is free and a somewhat accurate assessment what a coin is worth in their present condition. I use it because it's not a bad barometer. Then the trick is learning how to ballpark a grade on the coin.

I've been collecting Numismatic items for 75 years, and during that time found that virtually anything related to money is potential for numerous problems, as many believe there's an opportunity for enrichment (i.e. theirs', not yours)! LOL

I suggest that you locate the source for buying a current edition of a publication called: THE CDN MONTHLY GREYSHEET

I believe the magazine cost is $15 for one copy.

It makes for great reading, and should supply you minimal pricing for your coins.

Current sales sites, I believe, are great opportunities to loose (i.e. free you from) what you have monetarily!

It has gotten so bad, that I've found Craigslist to be my best opportunity for not losing my money, after taking significant security precaution!

    Best Wishes, Rich
