Got my first (and second) counterstamped coins today, conveniently located in this one album. (No, the FEC in the small letters slot is not correct, nor is the 1909-S.) I've tried looking for these counterstamps on Ye Old Googs with no luck, so I thought I'd come here to see if anyone might be able to share some knowledge. I swear I saw another coin for sale at my LCS a while back that closely resembled that "S.W.BICK" and he had some paperwork regarding it's provenance. And go figure that this one is on an 1871 indian... what a travesty! I'm sure I'll be posting more pictures in the near future with these. I also noticed there's two (yes, two!) 1864 CN cents in here, too!
I once owned an 1860 Indian Head cent counterstamped "W.H.". When I got it, it was in a $1.75 bin, and I bought it since it was 1860. I sold it a few months later. Then my friend came across one just like it. It wasn't mine, but it had the same initials in the same font.
I don’t have an Indian Head Cent that’s counter stamped but I do have several Large Cents that do. I really like these: I have two of the three denominations that are stamped with their mark.
I saw a counterstamped Morgan for sale last week. It was nothing special, had little interest, and suspect it went near melt because the auction was about over. It had a famous Secretary of State back in the late 1800's stamped into it, but they spelled the name wrong.
