    I am afraid that this is actually damage. It looks like the damage called by the machines that roll coins. Whatever happened, it is not an error.

    The ring on your nickel is coin roll crimper damage.

    Originally it was worth 7+ cents that's what it cost to make it. Oh well, depreciation you know!

    If it’s an error you shouldn’t have to put up with that. I’d send it back and insist on my money back.

    I think your coin has been spooned, due to the outer edge of all the design letters are facing forward and the edge is a bit wavy in spots.
    It is allways helpful to post photos of both side of any coin that requires acessment by others..
