Commodus rare bust denarius

    hello all,

    Commodus (177-192 AD). AR Denarius (18 mm, 2.71 g), Rome, 188 AD.
    Obv. M COMM ANT P FEL AVG BRIT, Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
    Rev. P M TR P XIII IMP VIII COS V P P, Libertas standing facing, head turned left, holding pileus in right hand, scepter in left.
    RIC III 168var. (bust type); BMCRE 248var. (same).
    Foto's vendor, i have to wait for the mail.

    [​IMG] Rare bust. Good very fine.
    This typ bust do you see more on gold ones!

    this is my denarius, why is it a rare bust? (just curious) Commodus denarius (my 9th year as emperor) 001.JPG Commodus denarius (my 9th year as emperor) 002.JPG commodus( ninth year) denarius.

    Commodus do you see more his head, not complete ful bust, younger y ears he did that later years only on gold ones

    @ro1974 this Commodus denarius is a great find. I've been looking for a good style denarius of his for decades and so far I failed. Now that I see yours I can hope again

    Here's my Liberalitas with a draped and cuirassed bust:

    Obv: M COMMODVS ANTONINVS AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
    Rev: LIB AVG TR P V IMP IIII COS II P P, Liberalitas standing left, holding counting-board and cornucopiae.
    Refs: RIC 10; RSC 302; BMC 3; Szaivert 496/4.
