Who Has found any gold Metal Detecting or Coin Roll Hunting? I haven't but I would like too. I have been looking for someone that has for quite a while. if you have a video then post that too. P.s. this can be a different gold as in something that is worth as much as gold.

The only time I have ever found gold curiously enough was when I was a kid in the mid 1970s - found an 1877 British sovereign with a hole in it on the ground in a shopping centre parking lot. Unfortunately the coin was stolen from me a couple of years later.

Too bad, that would of been nice to have. It is so sad when someone steals something especially when something that was yours gets stolen. BTW how did it get stolen?

I bought my first metal detector, a White's Coinmaster IV, in July of 1970, but I never found any gold. Probably lived in the wrong part of the country (central Ohio). I think you had to search in rural, sparsely-settled areas where there were few banks. Had to give it up in the mid 1990s due to arthritis. I had business cards made offering police departments four hours of free search at crime scenes; those cards got me out of trouble more than once.

If you want to mark ground harmlessly, carry a little ketchup squeeze-bottle full of white sand, and devise some symbols no one else will know.

I found a 1 gram swiss gold bar when I was 7 years old or so. I was walking around a dirt path and saw a necklace on the ground.

I haven't seen the thing in a good 10 years at this point, though. Bummer.

I have found several gold rings but have never found a gold coin. Maybe someday.

    Gold!
Recent find, last weekend, at a school, on the bark ships under the swings:

    18 KT. marked.

Beach was rainy, and one other guy there.

I worked the high tide line out as the tide went down.
Then returned to the top line.

This hit in fairly solid ring.

not marked but pretty sure 14 K, or better.

Well, this winter stunk at the beaches.

Tides and erosion did not agree with my detecting pursuits.

Most of the time, even when there was some erosion, I found very little, except for change, and it was the first gold-less winter in quite a while.

So, with the thaw, it was time to return to the school yards.

Finally, about 3 weeks ago I hit some gold.

They were found entangled in the bark chips at a local school.

    Both were marked 14K, Italy.

    Thank you, Italy!

Along with about 75 cents in change.

Last month I found a 14k white gold necklace in a costume jewelry lot at auction. Had a little tiny diamond in it too. Tested genuine! It already went out as a gift though!

Found this at an auction in a "junk lot" of what they said were old Russian coins. Paid like $25 for the whole lot.

Found an 18k Mouawad white gold and diamond necklace in a bag of "junk silver" I bought at a gov't auction.

My best find was a bucket with $1.6million in gold flakes in it that I found in NYC.:D

And I found another bucket of gold in France!

More found gold! Sometimes it's about reading through the details and looking for the things that don't make sense. I bought the lot for $35 plus 12% auction fee. $39.20 total.

Everyone was focused on the big pendant and jade earrings, which I haven't even gotten to evaluating yet!

    https://new.liveauctioneers.com/item/50151602_marble-necklace-silver-pin-earrings-jade-pendants

If you read the details in this auction lot - it says "silver 750 earring" and everyone assumed that the auction house had done their homework on everything. Well it occurred to me that most silver is .925 and not .750 although there is some. But the thing is - everyone assumed the earrings were low grade silver and didn't bother to check! I also know that .750 is also a gold hallmark for 18k. :)

So I popped my diamond tester onto a couple of the diamonds and it came back positive. I do know they rarely put diamonds into silver - and so I confirmed that this was almost positively "white gold" and not silver.

I got the lot home, tested the metal of the earrings and the diamonds, and I was right. All diamonds on 18k solid white gold. 6.3 grams of 18k white gold - solid gold and diamond earrings!

    SCORE!

I've found gold a few times but it's usually in pretty insignificant amounts. One time however a few years back I was throwing away a lot of old proof and mint set packaging. In each case I'd save any tokens, emblems, or anything that seemed vaguely "collectible". Then I came to an Australian kangaroo proof set. It had what looked like a piece of gold foil embedded right into the wooden box. I was having trouble removing it without damage until I just got a saw and cut it out. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a huge 3/4 oz hunk of 10k gold!
