I recently found a 1984 nickel at first it just looked really wore out but then I seen what looks like ridges on some on the side then a couple letters in places it wasn't supposed to be can anyone help me figure what's going on

I saw your first photo and it does appear to have reeding. Is it possible to also take a clear shot front and back and possibly weigh the coin in grams?

No worries Braxton it happens, just message a mod and ask them to combine the threads

Slow down Braxton. Your first photo and post came through but you now have three posts on the same item. Give everyone some time to see and reply.

    I'm hoping it's a nickle on a quarter planchet.

No..can't happen. A Blank Quarter Planchet will not fit into the chamber that holds the blank Nickel to be struck. It could only happen the other way around. A blank Nickel Planchet could fit into a Quarter chamber because it is smaller.

I'm going to try a d post more pictures cause idt it could be pmd how would it get the ridges on the side or the letters above the building? And it was like half a circle in the middle that looks like half a coin

I repeat.. It's not and Error Coin of any kind. It's just PMD - Post Mint Damage
There are some people out there with a lot of time on their hands. They will mess around with normal struck coins and figure out how to make it look like an error when it is not. The reeding was added on post mint.
