Purchased on eBay at http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/231948051496?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT Checked seller on Known Fake Seller's lists - couldn't find him/her there. Compared coin (photos) to others on line. Seemed O.K. to me. (But I am no expert.)
It's possible it could be overcleaned too. Look at mine: Otho (69 A.D.) AR Denarius O: IMP M OTHO CAESAR AVG TRP - Bare head right. R: SECVRITAS PR - Securitas standing left, holding wreath and scepter Rome Mint, Feb- Mar. 69 A.D. 18mm 3.2g RIC 8, BMC 18, S 2162, C 17
Just in case, get it checked out soon, in case you need to return it. I just don't know about this one. Hope for the best for you.
I am afraid I have to pile on with the rest. I do not like this coin. Specifically, I do not like the portrait. I also think the lettering in the obverse legend is not quite right. It is hard to tell from the photo but there does appear to be evidence of casting. In addition, the figure on the reverse does not look right. Here is mine for comparison.
I thank all members who have taken the time to express their opinions here and privately. I have taken my (our) concerns to the seller (who seems to be genuine) and he has offered to cancel the sale and to refund my money (in full). I have asked him to do this. My thanks (again) to you all. (Pleasure and Pain.)
