LordM Giveaway #122 (pick your prize) Contest status: CLOSED Drawing: 3 March 2025 Winner: @The Half Dime Shipped: 7 March 2025 Winner's receipt: pending Hello, everyone, and welcome to the latest giveaway. This will be another one of my "pick your prize" contests, so you can hopefully win something you'll like. To enter: 1. Go view my Giveaway Gallery. 2. Post an entry here, stating which prize you would prefer. 3. State why you chose what you did. NOTE: That last bit is important. To qualify, you have to not only pick a prize, but also say WHY you picked it. Just a few words will do. PS- I made a lot of new purchases at the FUN show in January; many of which are intended as future giveaway prizes, but which have not yet been added to the Giveaway Gallery as of this typing (2/1/25). See the note in Post #2 for even more prize goodies to choose from! However, if you are entering on someone else's behalf (which you may do), you are not required to pick a prize or say why. Your designated proxy will get to pick their choice later, if your entry wins for them. Your prize choice need not be final. I do periodically add new prizes to the Giveaway Gallery, so if you win the drawing, you'll be given a chance to change your mind at the end, if you see a new prize you like more. I just enjoy reading everyone's initial selections up front, since it gives me an idea of what folks like. Click the pic below to go to the prize gallery. The drawing will be done via random number generator sometime on or after the date mentioned at the top of this post. The timing will depend on my schedule. You may consider the contest open for entries until such time as I have posted the final result of the drawing. Totally free: the contest is free of charge, open to everyone, with free worldwide shipping. The only further requirement is that if you win... Please post a receipt in this thread after you get the prize, so we'll know you got it (that helps me keep track). Good luck! Numismatic regards, ~Robertson ("Rob") Shinnick ("LordM") ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ LordM Giveaway archive Our "spokescritters" for this contest are Teddy, Grace, and Lucy, seen here frolicking in the first snow that had fallen in the Golden Isles in 36 years. "Hey! What's all this white stuff?!?"
NOTE: as of this typing (2/1/25), none of the new purchases I made for the giveaways has yet been added to the Giveaway Gallery. I hope to do that throughout the month. If you would like to browse through my entire (long) report from the FUN show in January, you may take note of anything I mentioned in there as being earmarked for future giveaway prizes, and choose one of those items as your prize, even though they are not yet as of this post added to the Giveaway Gallery. (No, you can’t have any of the gold coins I also bought for my own collection at the show, or the $50,000+ trophy coins some of the dealers let me hold.) Additionally, I have also recently acquired ten different one-ounce silver bullion coins and silver rounds which are destined to be added to the Giveaway Gallery once I've had time to photograph and individually list them. So if one of those pieces appeals to you, they're also eligible prize picks.
OK, I'll go first. I am in for the large cent. Since I won one in the earlier contest I kind of thought it would be nice to have more than one. I doubt I will start collecting the series though.
Note to myself, later: specifically the 1818 large cent. There is at least one later-date large cent I’ll be adding to the prize selection later, so while the 1818 happens to be the only large cent in the Giveaway Gallery as of this post, that will change soon when I add the other(s).
The Morgans are tempting, but I made a commitment to myself to buy at least one every week, so I'm still going to have to stick to my guns on the 1873 Silver Seated Liberty Quarter. It's something different that I don't have and would LOVE to have in my collection.
Entry Post I'm looking to get some of my 7070 Early American Copper holes filled. The 1818 Coronet cent would be a nice working man's coin to fill that void. Thanks for the opportunity, Rob. Good luck to everyone. Happy Groundhog Day y'all!
Entry post : I'm in for the war nickel from the Omaha bank hoard. It is time to bring it home to another Omaha hoard. Edited to add a big thank you to LordM for his continuous generosity of time and coin.
I love February. We have a pagan ritual using a rodent to predict the weather. We celebrate love on Valentine's Day. And, our arguably two greatest presidents, Washington and Lincoln, were born in February.
Entry Post I would like the chance to win the Greek, Ionia with lions head obverse and stellate reverse. Such a good strike compared to many others. It would be the oldest coin in my collection. The skill of the engravers on such a small working surface always amazes me.
I would like to enter for the Greek coin. I am in my second semester of Greek and do not have a Greek coin. I think that would make an interesting piece in my collection. I also like that it is so old. Thank you!
