Very probably fake. How much does it weigh (in grams)?

Could be a fake of a fake. That's apparently a thing now.

Anyway, I'm sorry and so hope you get a real one soon. There are some out there that come up for great prices if you are patient. I managed to snag this one for a little under $500...I think $450 if I remember correctly.

I always assumed I'd have to pay $650-$1000 for one in this condition and with no intrusive test cuts, but with patience and luck you could snag a good deal from a reputable source.

Remember how I said I've never bought an Owl because my tastes and budget never intersected, but that I'd come close a few times?

Oh, wait, that was in FitzNigel's "goals" thread. Anyway, that Owl you just posted is exactly what I would look for in one under $500. Bravo!

The ones I almost bought looked like that. (I say "almost" because I've been "a day late and a dollar short" more than once.) Nice coin!

I don't know about others, but to me the "Owl" is is the very symbol of ancient coins. Beauty, age, silver, weight, Athens, etc. Wish I had one (or more) but I'm like many others, I just don't have the coin:(
