1871 sovereign

    Found this 1871 sovereign today beautiful coin

    Not an Ancient coin, so it’s slightly misplaced in this forum, but definitely a “wow” find! What an adrenaline rush that must have been!

    This recently purchased 1877-S Aussie is the only “Shield” sovereign I have owned. It too was a “find” of sorts, though not by me personally.

    It was salvaged from 1,500 feet below the Atlantic Ocean, off the 1881 RMS Duoro shipwreck.

    Where’d you find yours? That to me is an equally interesting story, even if you didn’t find thousands of them like the shipwreck salvors did.
