I have a bunch of WWII era world coins. I think the only Civil War era is this counterfeit, likely passed down from my great-great grandfather (posted here many times...). Wait, I recently won this one from @lordmarcovan
Thanks! Do you or does anyone here have a button book that might have this listed there? It must be in that Big Button book, no?
I only had the Alphaeus Albert button book, which only covers US uniform buttons, so no. I’m sure the right search keywords online should reveal something, however.
I forgot about this one I used to own. Belgium (Austrian Netherlands): copper 2 liards (2 Oorden); Insurrection coinage, 1790
Here are a couple "War tokens" for you 1st one well just another CWT plenty of those already posted but I like my 2nd better. Date it around 1968... Da Nang Vietnam "In Trade" token (as we did not allow our sailors/soldiers to use US Dollars these were a form of military script )
It's obviously a very old button. We (friends and I) found several Large cents, buttons, buckles and my one and only Fugio Cent. It was definitely a once in a life time area. It's totally private now though. Several cellar holes... So? Do you really think it made its way on someone's jacket from their mother country? That's a cool idea. They obviously had money. There was also an old foundation for a school right around the corner.
I’m pretty sure it’s a British button, roughly contemporaneous to the Napoleonic era, so not long after the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. It might have been worn by a veteran.
I have an idea. I know where to find a copy of the "Old" map of the area online. It doesn't list addresses but rather just names of the period that lived there. I bet they have a British name? I'll try to post it if I find it. It's been a long time since I looked.
The American Revolutionary War, guinea dated 1776. The guinea was the most popular British gold coin during this period. It was worth 21 shillings.
I’ve heard that gunshot wounds to the spoot can be particularly painful! Glad to see that old friend again.
Been there, done that- and relatively recently, in just the past few months. Not that auspicious date of 1776, but still a Rev War era date.
You will need something much more to go on than merely “a British name”. Do you have any idea how many people with British surnames there are in this country, and have been, since 1607?
I bought this in 1961 from a dealer who took it from an unused pack of 100. The foxing is actually from the ink of the bill beneath it.
