I am currently inquiring about this coin from J.J. Teaparty, Boston, Mass.. The cent is described as ANACS EF40 and is priced at $1149.00. Let me know what you think!

    Nice coin, but it is a little on the expensive side. Here are the Heritage result;

    Auction 442, Lot 148 Friday, July 13, 2007 40 NGC $1,035.00
    Auction 415, Lot 7229 Monday, August 21, 2006 40 NGC $977.50
    Auction 450, Lot 225 Tuesday, April 10, 2007 40 PCGS $920.00
    Auction 450, Lot 226 Tuesday, April 10, 2007 40 ANACS $805.00
    Auction 432, Lot 126 Saturday, March 17, 2007 40 PCGS $1,150.00

    FYI; lot #450 is "corroded".

Nice coin! There is a nick on the neck that I would wonder about. It looks like it is in a new ANACS slab.
I bought a nice VF one last year and paid $725. While I think this one is alittle on the high side these coins seem to keep going up little by little.

I saw what looks like a nick on lincolns neck and thats what I called them about but they havent called me back yet. Like rlm's cents posted, these have been selling at Heritage for roughly $800. Maybe I should hold off for one that isnt nicked up.

Ask them to come down on the coin, I dealt with them in person last year and had pretty good results on a couple of barber dimes

I like the color, but at that price, I would hold out and wait for another one.

Teaparty is very overpriced on slabbed coins.

Thanks for the input guys. I have never dealt with this dealer before and its been a long time since I've bought an 09-S vdb. I believe I'll go with your advice and wait for a better deal. I like the details and color of this coin but wasnt sure about the mark on the neck. I wasnt really planning on spending over $900 but I'd go a little higher for the right one.

If I were you I would go to such places as Heritage, and DLRC, and Teletrade and sign up for the free membership and put this coin in the WANT LIST. You might find one cheaper on one of these places than from a dealer.

Thats a nice coin. The mark is there thats for sure and I think with that being said the price is a tad high based on the numbers shown above. The coin does have nice even color, nice eye appeal and will be sold for that price, maybe not to you, but will be sold. My gut feeling is that the 09S VDB is going to take a few jumps soon. 100 anniversary, baby boomers being able to afford "the key" and The lincoln cent is still king. Most everyone started there.

    Just my nickels worth.

Love the coin, hate the price. If you like the coin, call Gail and negotiate. She should have room to do so..Mike

I called Gail at J.J. Teaparty and some guy had both of the 09-s VDBs on hold because he didnt know which one he wanted. I did happen to find another one from David Hall Rare Coins in an NGC AU58 for $1385.00 and one in NGC VF35 for $1,175.00. I dont know what to do now. If I should go for it and spend a little extra or be conservative and get the VF35. HELP!!!!! LOL

That's a terrible 58. Spotted. The first coin is 1000% better, IMHO.

Personally, I stay away from DHRC. Let's just say I have yet to find a nice coin fairly priced and leave it at that.

Call Gail back and tell her that you want next dibs on it. Or, I will. ;) Take care...Mike

Nice coin - I have made several purchases from JJT and have always been pleased - no problem there.

ANACS tends to be a few points more "liberal" than PCGS/NGC. I would be careful on the pricing....

The JJT coin has the nice eye appeal. The DHRC coin doesn't look a good and the reverse is scuffed up a bit. I'd either try to bargain with Gail or wait for another to come your way that is both acceptable to you in grade, eye appeal and price. I wish we all could do that>

tell them it looks like the mm is glued on.............i'll bet they come down!

they probably feel it will cross at pcgs that's why the high price, call and see if they'll deal or keep hunting, kind of what i'd do.

I think I'm gonna keep on hunting. When it gets to the point that I'm spending $1,000 + for a single coin I'm not going to rush myself into anything. Especially a coin thats highly known to be counterfieted. Thanks for the advice guys!
