Can you have a foreign coin graded same day at a coin show?

I believe both NGC and PCGS will grade and slab your coin at the show. If you just wish an opinion on its grade and authenticity for free ANACS and ICG do that.

Then if it is profitable you may send it in to the others to be slabbed.

They slab same day at FUN? Even old foreign coins or just US coins?

Not to change the subject but I was wondering if coins graded by ICG and ANACS are less valuable than coins graded by PCGS and NGC?

PCGS on-sites at fun. You need preapproval for show grading for world coins.

NGC is at fun as well. I don't know if they do world coins or not on site but they're located in FL as well so I would think they do.

Simple answer would be yes they are.

"Join the PCGS Collectors Club to gain coin submission privileges. Once you are a member, access a Show Submission Form (PDF) to prepare your coin submission."

Do I need to be a member of Collectors Club?

What if I just walk in without any preapproval?

    Yes

Dunno, I'd imagine they would tell you it can't be graded on site at the show but dunno

They'll make you join if you want to submit the coin for grading. If you just want the coin graded at the show and don't want to join, have someone submit it for you. This assumes that the same day service is available for the coin you have. PCGS's non-guaranteed time for the Show Express service (which costs $250) is 4 hours, so you'll have to submit in the morning if you really want same-day service.

So what would be the cheapest way to have an old foreign coin graded? Do they grade coins from 16th and 17th century? Walk in in the morning, leave it there and return afternoon?

    Are these the prices?

Can I get it graded for $125?

Depends on the value. Here are NGC's costs...looks like there is a $125 tier as well, but I don't see you could get it guaranteed done in a single day.

You'd have to join NGC the Collector's Society OR, if you are an ANA member, they used to allow direct submissions from them. NGC may have a bit more experience with the coin you've got if it's a world one.

I think the best thing to do is call the customer service at both of them and ask what they will be able to accommodate on site. They do have the FUN show listed as having on site grading. However, a 16th/17th century rarity might not be feasible.

As for if they grade them in general, yes. Pretty much anything in a Krause catalog.

Send it to ICG or ANACS probably costs less than $35. BTY what is your coin?

Agree, cheapest would be ANACS or ICG. Same day will not be cheap.

I want to have it graded at the FUN show same day - NGC or PCGS only - , not send it in.

Not same day. The normal show grading tier at $125 will get it back to you by the end of the show (Sunday for FUN), and probably only if you get it to them by Friday. They announce show grading cutoff times at the show.

The PCGS OR NGC Holders might make a coin more valuable but you pay triple submitting a coin to them versus ANACS and ICG. And there are no big membership fees either. Anacs just sent me an insider deal submit 10 dimes to dollars @ $10. ea. and get 4 more submissions free. And pay for return shipping. If I did that with the big 2, I would loose half my leg.

Technically PCGS and NGC don't really have membership fees either when you really think about it. Yes both make you pay to join but NGC gives you a credit for the cost of joining and with the PCGS vouchers you can actually save a good bit of money on a submission as they can be worth more than the cost of joining depending how they are used

If you want it back in four hours (end of day), then you are at the SHOW EXPRESS $250 tier (unless it's worth over $100,000).

And that's IF they will grade the specific coin at the show - they don't have all their experts, reference materials and slab sizes available on-site. That's one of the reasons they want you to call customer service ahead of time.

To do this, you need to be a submitter (member). PCGS will cost you $$$ , NGC also unless you are an ANA member (but there may not be enough time to get your NGC submitter number before the show).

Is there some reason you are resisting our strong suggestion to just pick up the phone and call (ask the horse as it were instead of depending on the collective stupidity of crowds?)??

Stick with NGC or PCGS, maybe ANACS I never would use ICG. Any coin worth grading needs to have a top notch grading company. I use both NGC and PCGS.

Thank you I didn't realize that. I checked out the PCGS site and they have 3 different memberships with platinum at the top giving you 8 free submissions. But I was trying to figure out , how long is their membership for, 1 year, it doesn't tell you.
