Happy Greetings.. By the end of last year 2015, I posted 2 silver Tets of Alexander III. They turned to be fakes. But the coming year then was really flourishing for me in matter of ancient coins collecting. This time, exactly after one year I'm posting 2 new silver Tets. The first represents Emperor Seleukos II with Apollo on reverse. SC 702 v _ SNGIs 448 v. The second is of Alexander (Heracles) being struck in Temnos with seated Zeus on reverse. Price 1676. They weigh respectively 16.16 g. and 16.43 g. If they are genuine, I'll be happy. If not, I'll return them back and hope for a coming flourishing new year 2017. Happy New Year.
Nice ones to end the year ! The first one looks genuine to me. There is some wear and a bit distractive chip over the eye, but otherwise a very typical portrait. The second, i am not so enthusiastic about the Herakles portrait, but the reverse looks better. No definite verdict from me on this one.
You did fine this time Charles. However your dealer makes me nervous selling fakes. I wouldn't put a high dollar value on these due to condition, hope you didn't pay too much.
The Temnos Tet looks OK to me, obverse probably struck with a worn die or weakly struck or both. Here's mine:
