Anyone seen these type of mint sets before?

So, just picked these up at a LCS today. I haven't seen this particular kind of mint set before (assuming it is an aftermarket set?) - and eBay is yielding zero results. I'm curious if anyone else has seen this exact style of mint set before and could help me out with a little info (who made them, how many were made, do they carry a premium.)

Made up outside the mint by a coin dealer. I've seen similar sets made up decades ago by a dealer in Georgia with a print shop.

 

The 55 Philly set is still nice.
The coins are prob just high XF taken from circulation.

 

Actually, the coins are of excellent quality (or I wouldn't have purchased them.) The 1955 P Franklin is an MS "Bugs Bunny", the 1955 D quarter is a shoe in for at least 64, both the 1954 quarters are gorgeous, and the 1954 D Franklin is FBL (even though the obverse fields aren't top quality.) I was hoping to snag a FS Jefferson or a 54 S/D or D/S...lol...but in the end, the quality of the coins was significantly better than most aftermarket sets I've seen...which makes me want to find out more about these sets before I cut them up and image the coins (don't want to do so if the sets carry a premium.)

I agree that someone made the sets. Those "cello-packs" can be done in home.

 

I have seen similar sets before. Some of them were 1982/1983 sets (since there were no official US Mint sets those years). I would say there is very little premium to them (worth less than an actual 1955 mint set), but the coins do look nice (definitely UNC) and it seems like you will be able to get a premium for many of those individual coins (or sets where no individual coin is worth cutting out).

 

Well, my excitement got the better of me. Here is a photo of the 1955 D Washington Quarter:



Out of the cello, I think it would probably go 63-64, with an outside shot at 65 on a good day. There are a couple smaller nicks that I couldn't see through the cello that I think might keep it from gem grades. Still, at $10 for the set, I'm not complaining (as this is a date I hoard due to the low mintage.)

 

Wow, $10 for the set? The half alone is probably worth that.

 

$10 for the 55d set...so no half included.

 

Definitely after market if any of the coins graded ms 65 or above its well worth it then!!

Of course, this coin is in a PCGS MS65 CAC slab...so...maybe it has a better shot at 65 than I thought.

 

Can't see the reverse. Hits, scratches and gouges on the cheek. Signs of wear. Uneven toning that looks like environmental damage. AU-53. Not an MS-65. Whoever graded that was looking at the clock at 4:59 on Friday.
