About 3 weeks ago I purchased 2 lots from the Heritage Coin auction in Hong Kong. I had never bought from them or any others before. All things aside it was a pleasant transaction. I bought a 14 China Error coin lot and a graded 10 Cash. This is one of the best Doubled-Die coins i had ever seen. Reminded me of the 1955 Penny but on the entire side of the coin. 1920 10 Cash DDR Circa 1920 20 Cash warlord cast bronze. See the spelling and doubling. 1903 Hupoo 20 Cash major off center 1903 Hupoo 10 Cash 1906 10 Cash
Hmmm, I'm going to have to look into auctions like this. I'm interested in a small area of Chinese coins.
they had a nice selection hundreds of auctions. Just keep an eye out for world coin auctions. beware they have a 25% buyer premium.
Nice lot! I've not bought raw coins from them before. I did get a desirable-to-me coin in that auction too...but my buyers premium was 19.5%. Their normal is 17.5%, but they add a bit to the Hong Kong auctions. I was assuming the extra 2% was for the transportation costs-delivery took longer than usual too. But 25% seems awfully steep.
maybe I mis-spoke. I don't have the paper with me to check now. but either way it was worth it for the 5 I really like.
I will probably send the 1st five coins into grade. 3 Errors at NGC with one other major off center error i have and the Hupoo and tai Ching Tai Kou to PCGS with some other silver China coins.
Congrats on the snag. It seems like every time I win on Heritage I wind up overpaying. You've done marvelously well.
I eas very impressed with the pre auction and live. Live updated mega fast considering you have in person internet and mail/fax bids.
Nice coins. I'm not really into foreign but that first doubled die with the killer spread is nice. Here's my favorite 'Chinese' coin...
